The Edward Howell Family Association Celebrates the 382nd
Anniversary of Edward Howell to Southampton, the first English
Settlement in New York State
On October 11th , 2022, the descendants of Edward Howell will gather to celebrate the
382nd Anniversary of Edward Howell’s arrival from Lynn, Massachusetts in 1640 to
what is now known as Southampton, the first English settlement in New York State.
The Edward Howell Family Association (“EHFA”) returns to Southampton every five (5)
years, with this reunion originally scheduled for 2020. The EHFA membership has
grown to over 200 members since its humble beginnings in the mid 1970’s. EHFA
holds annual reunions around the country that are hosted by various association
members, with our 2023 reunion being planned to take place near Mystic Seaport in
Connecticut.

The EHFA is a non-profit organization dedicated to researching the genealogy of Edward
Howell and his descendants: publishing research by members and others for the benefit of
members and the public, and identifying, restoring, and preserving artifacts, manuscripts,
and real property deemed to be related to Edward Howell and his descendants
